Quick Fit Tip: Tricky Math

Here’s a simple way to lose weight in the New Year – use a reward system that uses numbers & mathematics to justify. Why math? Because we all know that EVEN when we sometimes want them to, numbers can’t & won’t lie!

In a nutshell:

  • Determine your overall weight-loss goal, then break that down into increments (fractions or even percentages).
  • Now think about the one-huge thing or food you’re going to have to give up (for the most part) to achieve that goal.
  • For every marker/point that you’ve pre-set in your progress towards achieving that total weight loss goal, you get to enjoy that very thing you gave up!

Example: Let’s say your weight loss goal is 50 pounds. Let’s say your favorite thing to do is Happy-Hour down at “Chub’s Tavern.”

Best Approach: For every 10 pounds you lose, you get a night at “Chub’s Tavern,” to go free & have a good time! Of course you need to go back to your discipline the next day! But at this point, you have earned that night at “Chub’s Tavern!”

Conclusion: You only have one life to live, and you deserve to live it. But if you live it with no regulation, moderation, or reciprocation-you will end up shortening that life by many years! Therefore, stay disciplined & work hard 99% of the time, but reward yourself & enjoy that piece of bad food or a night out at “Chub’s Tavern.” ONLY if you’ve truly earned it by that point ;)
